WebCT (CE6)

CHANGE IS HERE!

WebCT has moved! In order to better serve your needs, we've updated the program and moved to a brand new part of town. The new system is called Blackboard CE6 (aka: CE6) and promises a better learning experience for all.

There are a couple of announcements, however:

A) Your classes will not appear until 3 days prior to the first scheduled class meeting date! If the class is an online class (W01, etc.), that should be three days before the beginning of the semester. If your class meets on-campus and uses the Web to enhance your learning experience, the class should appear three days before your first class meeting.

B) Even when your class appears, you still may not be able to access it. Most instructors deny access until the first day of the semester.

Logging In

Logging in is almost the same as it was for the old WebCT:

  • You'll go to the server
  • Enter your Login name
  • Enter your Password

Once you've done that, you'll be taken to a screen that lists, among other things, your classes. To access a class, just click the title.

ID's and Passwords

  • New Users: If you're a first time CE6 user, your login name/ID will be the first part of your WNC email address (the part before the "@" symbol) and your "W" (aka: Student ID) number. The login name should be all lower case and the "W" in your student ID should be upper case.
  • CE4 Link Users: If you had a class on CE6 last semester but got there by logging into the CE4 server and clicking the "My CE6 Classes" link, your ID and Password from last semester should work. If they don't, try the same login ID (they haven't changed) and your "W" number.
  • Fall CE6 Users: If you had a class last semester where you logged into the new server (http://webcampus.wnc.edu) directly (NOT through WebCT CE4) , your ID and Password from last semester should work.

Getting Started:

  1. Login to: http://webcampus.wnc.edu.
  2. Enter your login ID, all lower case. (I.E.: If your WNC email is jdoe@wnc.edu, you'd enter jdoe)
  3. Enter your "W" number as your password. (I.E.: W555555555)

Once You're There

When you're logged in, in addition to your regular classes you'll see a course entitled, "CE6 Student Orientation." Take a few moments to work through it in order to familiarize yourself with the new system, even if you're experienced with online classes. Everyone can benefit from reviewing the information it contains.

IF ALL ELSE FAILS: If you've tried everything, still can't get in, and are ready to do great bodily harm to the next living creature that comes within reach, you may phone the WNC Dini Library Reference Desk at: 445—3227 during the following times:

Remember:

  1. Your classes will not be listed until three days before the first scheduled meeting date.
  2. Instructors routinely deny access to students until the first day of the semester.
  3. Use your email name and "W" number for your initial login ID and Password if this is the first time you've signed into CE6.
