Ceremony set for Friday, Aug.1, at 4 p.m.

POST Academy to Honor Graduates

Nineteen cadets who have completed the 2008 Western Nevada State Peace Academy at Western Nevada College will be honored in a ceremony Friday, Aug. 1. The celebration is at 4 p.m. in the Old Assembly Chambers of the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City.

Students hail from throughout the region, and many have already been selected for jobs at agencies in western Nevada, including Carson City Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Lyon County Sheriff's Office, and Washoe Tribal Police Department.

Graduates include Cecilia Baldazo, Brett Bindley, Logan Christopher, Kyle Leslie, DeAndre Montgomery, Katrina Romero and Jonathan Tripp of Carson City; Wayne Hawley of Fernley; Matthew Duffie, David Glover, Randolph Overton and Shane Twichell of Gardnerville; Joshua Schumann of Hawthorne; Jon Gunter of Indian Hills;
Danny Brewer and Zachary Hickman of Minden; Michael Messmann and Kevin Sheppard of Sparks; and Gregory Bennett of Washoe Valley.
